Indiana’s Only Federally Recognized Hemophilia Treatment Center
In 1998, nationally and internationally recognized experts Amy Shapiro, M.D. and Anne Greist, M.D. founded the Indiana Hemophilia and Thrombosis Center (IHTC).
As IHTC expanded, it became one of the nation’s largest hemophilia treatment centers—and, as experts in the care of bleeding disorders, the only center in Indiana to receive federal designation. As a certified medical home, our patients have 24/7 access to our providers who deliver patient- and family-centered, comprehensive care hemophilia, thrombosis, von Willebrand disease, HHT, and other bleeding and clotting disorders—including rare conditions.
IHTC began with a vision for a center where patients and families affected by blood disorders could receive the best treatment. With extensive experience in hematologic disorders and depth of specialization in the field, our doctors, nurses, and specialists are focused on improving quality of life for our blood disorder patients and their families.
Since its founding, IHTC has grown in every way possible. Today, the IHTC is one of the largest hemophilia treatment centers in the U.S. by number of patients served, sizes of staff, and number of programs and services. It is now a vital part of the Innovative Hematology organization.

Non-Profit Status and Governance
IHTC is a non-profit, section 501(c)(3) entity governed by a small, active board of directors who share the vision of the clinical team. Our board members are broadly accomplished professionals who provide expert guidance, direction, and oversight.
