A short interview with Anne Greist, MD - Adult Hematologist

What inspires you about your work?

The support staff at IHTC. They are knowledgeable and very motivated to provide the best care to patients, they’re very supportive of the doctors, and make sure things don’t get dropped or overlooked if you aren’t on top of your game (yes, that does happen) or busy with a lot of competing demands.

What do you hope to accomplish for patients?

I’d like patients to receive consistently excellent care, and feel that they and their time really matter to their medical team, and look forward to coming to the center.

How would you describe your approach to patient care?

I enjoy figuring out the doctor-patient relationship for each patient: what the respective roles are; how much input into the decision-making they wish to have vs. how much guidance; I like to reinforce accomplishments – weight loss, smoking cessation, exercise, medication adherence; and I’d rather not dwell on negatives but always look for positives.
